We offer basic music education in musical instruments and singing, primarily aimed at children and young people, in Tampere, Ylöjärvi, Kangasala and Hämeenkyrö. No previous experience is required to start studying.
Schedule
- Application period: 1 March– 30 April
- Instrument selection sessions: Tuesday, 26 May–Thursday, 28 May
A more detailed schedule will be drawn up after the application period has ended and will be announced to applicants on Monday, 11 May.
- The results of the student selection process will be announced to all applicants on Friday, 5 June.
- New students will begin their studies in August.

New students are accepted into vacant places. The number varies each year depending on the instrument and the students’ home municipalities.
Instruction for all instruments (including singing) is available at our Tampere location. For instrument availability in other municipalities, please visit our location info pages: www.pmo.fi/yhteystiedot/toimipisteet. If the desired instruction is not available in your location, you can come to Tampere for lessons.

Instrument demonstrations and trials
If you haven’t decided on an instrument yet, we highly recommend attending our demonstration and trial events (see details below). These sessions give you the opportunity to try out different instruments under the guidance of our teachers.

Friday, 27 March at 4:30 PM & 6:30 PM: Musical fairy tale ”Little Red Riding Hood” & instrument trials at Pyynikintie 2, Multipurpose Hall
Instrument trials will take place via an ”instrument orienteering” session after each concert:
Session 1: Concert 4:30 PM – 5:10 PM | Trials 5:15 PM – 6:15 PM
Session 2: Concert 6:30 PM – 7:10 PM | Trials 7:15 PM – 8:15 PM
Ylöjärvi and Hämeenkyrö
Saturday, 7 March: Potter Event at Monitoimikeskus Silta, Kyrönsarventie 16, Hämeenkyrö
The wind orchestra Puhallica performs on the cafeteria stage at 4:30 PM – 5:00 PM, followed by instrument trials in the library from 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM.
Tuesday, 21 April 21 at 6:30 PM: ”Pieni iltasoitto” (Little Serenade) at Leija Library, Koivumäentie 2, Ylöjärvi
