Trombone

The trombone has a slide which is used to alter the tune of the instrument. But your first task is to learn how to buzz to create a sound from the mouthpiece!

A good age to start playing the trombone is around 7, depending on the size of the pupil. Older children can also grab the trombone for their first instrument! You can rent a beginner instrument from the music institute, but if you are interested in buying your own one, suitable trombones cost around 1,000 to 2,000 euros. If the pupil is very small, the teacher may suggest another brass instrument to start with before moving on to the trombone.

The trombone is suitable for many music genres, such as classical, jazz, and pop music.

The trombone is an important instrument in the orchestra, and so the pupils will join a wind band when they start their instrument lessons. A wind band is a great place to meet other pupils at the same stage as you are and to find new friends.
