Information to choir applicants

Children and young people can study choral singing at the Children’s Choir Tactus and then at the Youth Choir Sympaatti.
- Tactus currently accepts children in grades 2–5 (born 2012–2015) with singing skills.
- Sympaatti currently accepts girls in grades 6 or older (2011 or earlier) who have also sight reading skills.
Auditions
To audition to Tactus, the applicant sings a song of their choosing without accompaniment. Their vocal range and musicality will also be tested.
To audition to Sympaatti, the applicant sings the melody part of the song “On suuri sun rantas autius” as a part of a four-part quartet. Their sheet music reading skills, vocal range, and musicality will also be tested.

Studying in choirs
Children’s choir Tactus has rehearsals on Tuesdays from 16:15 to 17:45 at the Aleksanteri school. The choir also has a camp 2–4 times a year.
Youth choir Sympaatti has rehearsals on Tuesdays from 18:00 to 20:00 at the Aleksanteri school. The choir also has a weekend rehearsal camp around once a year and Sunday singing rehearsals (4 hours) around once a month.
The tuition fee for choirs is 60 € (120 € per academic year). There is no fee for those who are already instrument students at the Pirkanmaan musiikkiopisto. If desired, choir members have the opportunity to join the music perception groups.
